Michael breathed a tiny sigh of relief. Maybe he wouldn’t have to fight too hard to at least get to see their baby, after all. “I’d like that. And anytime is fine by me.”

“Good.” Jayce stood. “I do really have to get going, but I will call you. It was… strange, to see you again. But good strange, I think.”

“It was good to see you too,” Michael said sincerely. “Take care of yourself.”

“I intend to,” Jayce responded as he walked away. Michael watched him go, his stomach flipping as Jayce rounded the corner, out of sight.
